Community Guidelines

Our Mission

hey. is a space for genuine, anonymous human connection. These guidelines exist to keep the community safe, respectful, and welcoming for everyone.

1. Be Respectful

Treat every person you chat with the way you'd want to be treated. Disagreements are fine — personal attacks, insults, and name-calling are not.

2. No Harassment or Bullying

Do not intimidate, threaten, stalk, or bully other users. This includes repeated unwanted contact, aggressive language, and targeted hostility. If someone ends a chat, respect their decision.

3. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.

4. No Sexually Explicit Content

hey. is not a dating or adult platform. Do not send sexually explicit messages, solicitations, or sexual content of any kind. This applies to all chat modes including friend conversations.

5. Protect Your Privacy (and Others')

Do not share personal contact information — yours or anyone else's. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, home addresses, and full names. Our moderation system automatically redacts detected contact information to keep everyone safe.

6. No Illegal Activity

Do not use hey. to plan, promote, or engage in any illegal activity. This includes sharing illegal content, soliciting illegal goods or services, and encouraging others to break the law.

7. No Spam or Solicitation

Do not use hey. for advertising, promoting businesses, sending repetitive messages, or soliciting money. This platform is for genuine conversation, not marketing.

8. No Impersonation

Do not pretend to be another person, a public figure, or a representative of hey. staff. Being anonymous doesn't mean pretending to be someone you're not.

9. No Self-Harm or Dangerous Content

Do not promote, glorify, or encourage self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or other dangerous behaviors. If you or someone you're chatting with is in crisis, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US).

10. Don't Circumvent Safety Features

Do not attempt to bypass moderation, evade bans, create multiple accounts to avoid restrictions, or exploit bugs in the platform. Report vulnerabilities to us at hey@dec8.io instead.

Enforcement

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

• Warning or message removal
• Temporary suspension
• Permanent ban
• Reporting to law enforcement where required

We enforce these guidelines through a combination of automated moderation and human review of reports. Decisions are made at our discretion and are final.

Reporting

If someone violates these guidelines, use the report button during or after a chat. Every report is reviewed. You can also contact us directly at hey@dec8.io for urgent concerns.
